March Program
Fran Kingsbury sent in the following information about the meeting: The March Program promises something of interest to everyone. The first section of the program will be directed towards the slide makers although everyone will benefit from the instruction. The program entitled "Existing Light Photography" comes from the N4C tape library. The subject deals with using fast film indoors and out and consists of 80 slides showing various results. The second part of the program will be of primary interest to the darkroom print makers although the commentary should prove interesting to everyone.
The program will actually be part storytelling and part photographic instructions for the darkroom enthusiast. The story, related by an early day pictorial photographer on the east coast tells of his early sailing experiences including entries in the Bermuda Race and other prominent sailing races. Interwoven in this interesting tale is expert instruction to the print maker on how to produce winning black and white prints. The program is illustrated with copy slides and more than 30 actual exhibition prints that are nearly 50 years old. Even if you have never stepped into a darkroom you will enjoy the sailing yarns and these medal winning prints from the 40s & 50s.

It is with a very sad heart that I have to write that long time member Alvin Robinow passed away in January of this year. Our thoughts are with Rowena and the rest of the family.
